Busbar installation

Kuyper Electrical Services was appointed as Electrical Engineering Consultants to design and plan a 39 000m² factory responsible for manufacturing corrugated packaging in Boksburg, Gauteng.

We were appointed in the negotiations with the City Council of Ekurhuleni for the electrical infrastructure upgrade from the Ekurhuleni Substation to the site.  A Consumer Substation was built with MV switchgear. 11kV XLPE cables were installed between the Consumer and Council Intake substations. LED street lighting as per Ekurhuleni specifications was installed.

As part of the project, approximately 320m of MV cable was installed from the substation to the two RM6 indoor consumer kiosks outside the building.  The LV power to the site was supplied using two 2MVA transformers. Four Generators are employed for the backup power during power outages or load shedding. The internal LV reticulation was done using LV Busbars to the Main LV and distributing it through the plant.

Power saving, control and monitoring hardware were installed in the electrical distribution boards. All machine power consumption can be monitored to calculate exact running costs for the production series.

The facility also incorporates a state-of-the-art office block with a modern industrial design look and meeting facilities for its clients.
